Working while you study

Working while you study is a great way to earn extra money and develop work-based skills to add to your CV. There are many part-time jobs in the Kingston area – in cafes, restaurants, shops and offices.

Most international students studying in the UK can work up to 20 hours each week during term time and full time during vacations. This is in addition to any work placements that are part of your course. Read more about eligibility to work while you study on the main Kingston University website.

How we will help

Our Careers and Employability Service can help you find part-time work by:

  • advising you on your CV and job interviews; and
  • providing a list of local job vacancies online at the JobShop.

The national minimum wage set by the UK government is currently £5.93 per hour for workers aged 21 years or older and £4.92 per hour for workers aged 18–20.

Please note: you should not rely on extra money earned in a part-time job to fund your living expenses as it usually only covers part of these expenses.
